WILLIAM WARD

FRAMEMAKER AND MOUNTCUTTER

This is a classic piece of high end framing to hang in an office in New York. The 5.5cm wide section has been gilded in white gold over a custom coloured clay bole. Black bole is available but it does not burnish to a high finish well and I also wanted a slightly warmer feel under the white gold so after discussion with Jacqui the gilder, we agreed on a dark walnut colour. The mount is rag museum board chosen because it did not overwhelm the pale tones in the water-colour while still giving the necessary definition around the edge of the image and bringing the foreground into focus. The frame is finished with museum glass providing reduced reflection and UV protection.
